Michael E. Lapin, Esq.

Mike Lapin joined Eric Glasson & Associates in 2014 after graduating from Indiana University. Straight out of law school, Mike achieved early success with a jury trial verdict against a major governmental agency on behalf of a man who sustained a serious spinal injury in a bus accident. Since then, Mike has continued to advocate for the injured by successfully litigating hundreds of cases. Outside of court, he has negotiated hundreds of settlements against major insurance companies, many times having recovered the entire policy-limit on behalf of his clients.

Recently, Mike completed the successful representation of a woman who suffered a torn meniscus when she slipped-and-fell on a mopped floor at a major hospital. The hospital contended that they provided adequate warning of the wet floor and refused to offer a settlement. Following a three-day trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of Mike’s client and awarded her $83,030.52 for her injuries. In another recent victory, Mike successfully argued and defeated a motion for summary judgment filed by one of the nation’s largest fitness club chains against a plaintiff who was injured inside a sauna, which led to a favorable settlement. Mike also recently obtained a $90,000.00 judgment at binding arbitration on behalf of a couple who each suffered soft-tissue injuries to the low back in a rear-end accident; the insurance company’s offer was only ten thousand dollars per individual prior to the hearing.

Outside of court, Mike recently negotiated a full-policy settlement of $100,000.00 on behalf of a man who suffered a torn meniscus and a torn rotator cuff in a car accident on the Dan Ryan Expressway. Mike recently negotiated a $117,000.00 settlement on behalf of a motorcyclist who suffered an aggravation of a pre-existing knee injury when struck by a car in a parking lot. Mike recently negotiated a full-policy $100,000.00 settlement on behalf of a pregnant woman who suffered a herniated disk in her neck after the insurance company initially tried to deny that their insured driver ran a stop sign. Mike recently negotiated a full-policy $100,000.00 settlement on behalf of a woman who suffered torn cartilage of the left knee after the insurance company initially tried to deny that their insured driver ran a stop sign. Mike also recently negotiated a full-policy $100,000.00 settlement on behalf of a woman who suffered a rotator cuff impingement of the left shoulder when she was rear-ended while driving to the airport.

Mike’s experience includes auto accidents, wrongful deaths, dog bites, slip and falls, and many other types of personal injury cases. He always puts the client first and he has earned his reputation as a dedicated advocate. He has devoted his entire professional career to the representation of injured people and their families.
